Volkswagen Currently Working on New Polo

The Volkswagen Polo will no longer be the entry level model of the German automotive producer’s range. The spot will be taken by the new Volkswagen Lupo, a vehicle that will be based on the Up concept and will hit the market in spring 2012.

This might mean that VW will increase the Polo’s game a little bit, maybe offering a slightly more refined vehicle with the next generation of the sub-compact, which is expected to reach the market in four year’s time.

However, it is too early to tell if the Polo will make any steps up the market stairs. But the first info related to the next generation of the car have already surfaced the web.

The new Polo is a project that is already in the development phase, with Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg center (located in Germany) already working on the car, as indianautosblog writes.

It seems that the next Polo will be a bigger little animal, offering an increase in length and width. In addition to that, VW plans to bring some of the technological features used on its larger vehicles on the small models like the Polo.

These details could indicate that the Polo will follow the aforementioned pathway, offering a more premium feel to its customers, as well as a larger interior space. But we will have to wait and see if this is the direction chosen by VW for the car or if the bigger dimensions and extra equipment are just natural moves that come with a new generation.
