Volkswagen has just introduced a special edition version of the CC four-door coupe in Germany. It's called CC Dynamic Black and we rather like the packaging.

The reason it looks a little more aggressive than usual is that the R-Line body kit and 18-inch Talladega wheels were added as standard bling-bling. The bumper is a bit more aggressive, fog lights are added and a bolder grille is used. Down the side, side skirts and the Black Style design package can be noticed.

Inside, we can see that the CC Dynamic Black is fitted with a black headliner, Nappa leather seats with decorative stitching in Art Grey, as well as Art Grey accents. The Discover Media navigation system with Guide Inform and Bluetooth connectivity is also included, together with the Park Pilot driver aid.

In total, you can choose between three different engines, but the CC range has been so streamlined that none of them are particularly impressive. The cheapest model is €38,200 ($42,950) in Germany and gets you the 1.4 TSI single-turbo petrol engine making 150 PS and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. It's relatively efficient considering it lugs around 1.5 tons of coupe, but with 0 to 100 km/h taking 8.9 seconds, it won't leave you breathless.

The other two engines are both 2-liter turbodiesels rated at 150 PS and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft) or 184 PS and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. None of them is available with 4Motion all-wheel drive and the faster of the two needs 8.1 seconds to reach 100 km/h. Oh, CC, how far you've fallen!

Still, the Dynamic Black 2.0 TDI 184 PS with a DSG gearbox is just €45,550 which, Volkswagen is saying, will grant you €3,700-worth of extra value features for free. When you consider the much smaller Audi TT 2.0 TFSI quattro S Tronic starts at €40,000, you begin to find reasons to buy the aging VW.

Oh, and before we forget, you can have the CC Dynamic Black in colors other than black, as you can see from the photos below.
