Volkswagen Caddy Pickup with Triton V8 Can Drift and Smoke

The Caddy name is nowadays associated with a boxy van shape, but this is not the way things always were. But the name first came about in the 1980s in the shape of a Golf-based pickup that's been largely forgotten.
After a few years, it morphed into a fully-fledged light van, but some people are still loyal to the original, and we can kind of see why. A Golf front end with a pickup backside is pike a redneck acid dream, especially when looking at a custom job like this.

The owner of this monster is Shane Drake, who's clearly invested a million hours into making his "Rabbit truck" totally original. The cherry around which the project revolves is a 5.4-liter Triton V8 from Ford, stuffed into the little engine bay of the Volkswagen. The funny thing is the engine comes from Craigslist and its original owner traded it for an iPhone.

All the power is sent to the rear wheels where a welded diff from an old Mustang takes care of distribution. Giddy up you old pony!

The body is just as unique – flat black paint, custom wheel arches, a reworked interior and more. There's hood on this bad boy, because heat!

The interior is as crazy as the outside, fitted with a fully customized roll cage and unique dash, hidden behind which is a battery and bespoke electronic made by Shane himself.
