We’ve know that Volkswagen is likely to come up with a hot version of the new Beetle for a while now, and many graphic designers from across the world have dared to dream up their versions, but they should dream no more - the Beetle R has been revealed in concept form.
VW is calling it a what if, but there’s no hiding the fact it’s coming. “As an "R", the Beetle could demonstrate a performance potential similar to that of the Golf R and Scirocco R,” VW says.

We expect the car to have about 240 hp in US-spec and 260+ in Euro-spec. Although much of the floor pan of the Beetle comes from the Golf, it won’t have AWD like the Golf R does.

Cosmetic changes include wider bumpers, a splitter, bigger air intake at the front, slots cut into the hood and plenty of exhaust at the back. The R Concept sits on 20-inch Talladega wheels, but VW reminds us that the Golf and Scirocco have 18- and 19-inch.... How obvious is that!

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
