VW recently issued a press release with the updates for the 2013 model year and while other models come with minor changes, the Beetle is set to receive an important gift: a Convertible version. The carmaker has confirmed that the Beetle Cabrio will be introduced by the end of the current year.
The Beetle Cabrio will be offered with two petrol units and a diesel engine in the US. The entry-level powerplant will be a 2.5-liter 5-cylinder with 172 hp 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque, which will be followed by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder delivering 203 hp and 207 lb-ft (280 Nm) of torque. Oil burning fans will be able to opt for a 2.0-liter TDI four-cylinder that produces 140 hp and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque.
Volkswagen hasn't released any photos of the Beetle Convertible, but we're pretty sure these will follow soon.
