Working for Peugeot and hoping not to lose your job by next summer? Why not move to Volkswagen, since their sales don't seem to have been affected by the crisis and have actually been so good that they are awarding bonuses this year.
Thanks to record profits last year, Volkswagen board members deemed it fit to share. Its German workforce will receive a bonus of €7,200. It's a little less than what they gave out last year, but still enough to buy half a good VW. Last year, the company saw record profits, but most of that came from other markets, since European demand actually shrank.
"Profit sharing is hard earned and deserved; it is the equitable participation of employees in the success," said VW board member Horst Neumann. "The Volkswagen team has done an excellent job in 2012, and this team effort pays off for everyone."
