A pickup fit for a Sith Lord, that’s what the Volkswagen Amarok Black Edition would be if Darth Vader could be bothered to haul Stormtroopers from a battlefield to another. The ominous-looking truck is exclusively available with an eight-speed automatic transmission, 4Motion four-wheel drive, and the TDI V6.
The 3.0-liter engine, as expected, is offered in two flavors. £42,885 in the United Kingdom gets you the 204-horsepower model while £47,241 levels up to the 258-horsepower option. The all-black visual package and the Aventura trim level translate to £50,277 on-the-road including value-added tax, which is quite a lot of pounds sterling even in comparison to the X-Class.

Lesser versions of the Black Edition are based on the Highline specification, and as standard, these models come with 20-inch Talca black alloys, the Light & Vision package, and Discover Media Navigation with European maps and off-road information display. Black is the finish that Volkswagen chose for the headliner, fog light frames, sidebars, rear bumpers, and front styling bar while gloss-black garnish can be seen on the grille and dash.

Customers who prefer the Aventura Black Edition are further treated to Nappa leather upholstery, Ergo Comfort seats up front with power adjustments, paddle shifters on the steering wheel, power-folding side mirrors, cornering feature for the fog lamps, an underbody guard, stylized underbody cladding, and a protective coating throughout the bed area.

Matte paintwork is available as an option for the princely price of £2,420, which Volkswagen says it’s a 24-percent saving. Mountain Top roll covers are also featured, starting at £1,665 including labor. Trailer Stabilization, front and rear parking sensors, and Automatic Post-Collision Braking are standard regardless of the engine and trim level of the Black Edition.

Before deciding to put an order, it’s worth taking into consideration what you’re going to do with the truck. For work and off-road adventures, the black paintwork will prove a hassle to keep clean and free of scratches, so think about this matter before giving Volkswagen your hard-earned cash.
