Volkswagen Amarok Becomes Military Vehicle

Rheinmetall Defense the guys that have put a big gun on just about every modern battle tank, have recently turned their attention towards something a bit less heavy but equally rugged, the Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck.

This military vehicle version of the pickup we’ve already had a chance to experience in one of our test driver was revealed by Rheinmetall at the Eurosatory defense expo in Paris.

The pickup can be tailored to a multitude of humanitarian and military tasks, thanks to a reinforced suspension, advanced communication systems, an automated and motorized turret for guns.

opt for a range of engines going up to 177 horsepower and mated to either six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions. The engine can be fitted with a snorkel so it can ford deep rivers.
