Volkswagen Beetle Gets Porsche 917K Aero Elements in Wicked Family Mashup

Today is one of those days when we get to quench our thirst for answering questions nobody asked. For now, we'll stick to the following question: "What if a Porsche aficionado got mad at all the silly jokes about the 911 being an overhyped Beetle and decided to get back at those who make them?"

Yes, we know, our curiosity takes a bit of time to be read and yet you have to agree the question is entirely legit. As for the answer, this is delivered by the rendering above.

The image, which comes from young British artist Khyzyl Saleem, brings us a mashup involving the old Beetle and the Porsche 917K.

While tons of Beetles have been seriously modified over the years, none of them has managed to touch such a sensitive topic.

The artist's Photoshop black belt allowed him to introduce the kind of extreme aero used by Zuffenhausen's racecar on the Beetle as if these had always been there.

And thanks to the exposed posterior fashion of the 70s, we can see the delicious hardware of this monstrous Vee-Dub. Come to think of it, the image is so impressive that we can almost hear the 600+ hp engine of the 917K screaming when checking out this pixel rearrangement.

With Porsche now in its thrid year at Le Mans since its comeback and hunting for a victory once again this season, the timing seems just right for bringing the racecar that offered the German carmaker its first overall win on the Circuit de la Sarthe back under the spotlights.

Before we end this piece, allow us to remind the younger part of our audience that the 917K's name comes from Kurzheck or short-tail. However, the artist chose a different take for the posterior of this virtual contraption, going for an open-bay look.
