Visteon Presents Growth Market Car in India

Being one of the biggest automotive suppliers in the world, Visteon knows that for it to have the same degree on the emerging markets as all other big players in the industry, it has to adapt the products it makes to the requirements of the respective market.

Visteon said this week that it has done just that, with the Indian consumer in mind. As it has done several times in the past few years, the supplier packed all the goodies it has in mind for India into a show car, one which will possibly be taken and displayed in other countries around the world: the Growth Market Car.

The model is packed with technologies of all types, developed by both Visteon and 3M. Inside and out, all these features and technologies have been developed, says Visteon, following a long study on the Indian market conducted last year. The results of the studies can be summed up in the list below:

  • Climate: compact heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) unit and thinner heat exchangers for roomier interior
  • Electronics: scalable instrument cluster with integrated control panel
  • Interiors: instrument panel in full-size or two-thirds size, depending on whether consumers choose to eliminate the panel in front of the passenger seat for more space; a rear-facing fan on the back of the center console cost-effectively eliminates the need for separate rear-seat ducts
  • Front and rear lighting: halogen front-lighting source features dynamic bending for "seeing" around turns
  • Vehicle Personalization 3M interior trim film for changing the look of hard plastic parts, 3M Paint Protection Film to protect the exterior finish, and 3M paint replacement film and 3M scotchcal vehicle graphics to enhance the vehicle exterior
  • Light Management: 3M light string and 3M light management lens for ambient and functional solutions
  • Sound Management: optimized, lightweight solution implemented with Thinsulate acoustic insulation
  • Attachment Solutions: 3M structural adhesives, 3M acrylic foam tapes, 3M structural bonding tape and 3M dual lock reclosable fasteners

Both Visteon and 3M plan to take the model, after they show it to manufacturers in India, on a show-and-tell trip in Japan, China, Brazil, and Europe.
