Back the first time when compact pickup trucks were a little big thing on the U.S. market, General Motors was, of course, entrenched in a sales war courtesy of its Chevy S-10 and GMC S-15/Sonoma.
While the series is not devoid of contemporary enthusiasts that sometimes dabble with them on the quarter-mile dragstrips (among others), they are also best known for representing the base of some of the coolest high-riding performance vehicles of the early 1990s – the 1991 Syclone and 1992-1993 Typhoon SUV. Alas, we are not here to talk about those and instead, we need to peek at the nameplate’s convoluted history.

The original S-10 followed in the footsteps of the Chevy LUV (a rebadged Isuzu Faster) and lived a long and fruitful life between the 1982 and 1993 model years. Concurrently, the second-generation Chevy S-10/GMC Sonoma/Isuzu Hombre followed closely for the 1994 to 2004 model years. Then, it was all quiet on the North American compact pickup truck front while the South American version continued unabated until the 2012MY.

And believe it or not, that was not the end of the line for the S-10 nameplate, not in Brazil, at least. There, a locally built rebadged version of the North American Colorado lived on continuously since 2012. Alas, since another decade or so has passed, some perspicacious folks might think that it is time for yet another new iteration, right?

Well, at least over across the virtual realm that’s surely the case, courtesy of Kleber Silva. Now, the Brazil-based pixel master known as “KDesign AG” on social media, is finally back into Americana action, albeit with a Latino CGI influence. For him, the Chevy S-10 line never ended and that is also probably why it is not a pocket-sized unibody pickup truck like the current Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz.

Instead, the unofficial fourth-generation Chevy S-10 pickup truck looks as tough as its North American full-size counterparts. Or, perhaps, that is simply because the CGI expert chose to mix and match the visual styling elements of the upcoming 2024 Chevy Silverado EV with the digital base of truck operations represented by the posh GM Sierra.
