Vin Diesel to Star in a New xXx Movie

If Hollywood needed a line to define the new vibe, it would probably have something to do with the word sequel. There’s no more just one movie these days, everything has to be part of a batch of films. When it comes to Vin Diesel, there’s more than one car chasing franchises happening, other than the Fast and Furious saga.

Sure, Vin Diesel - Mark Sinclair on his real name - is best known for playing Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious film series. But we shouldn’t forget where we all got to meet the guy first. Yep, we’re thinking of the Tripe X action film directed by Rob Cohen. His character, Xander Cage, was a thrill seeking extreme sports enthusiast, stuntman and rebellious athlete-turned-reluctant spy for the National Security Agency. Quite a tough role, may we add.

Even though it received mixed reviews, the movie was a blast in terms of income, grossing $277,448,382 worldwide. Three years later, a sequel followed but neither the director, Rob Cohen, nor Diesel joined in this time since they were busy with other projects. Sinclair is driving shotgun in both Fast and Furious and XxX, so we can’t but be excited by the news of a fresh car-chasing, shootings and explosions type of film.

The announcement came straight from Diesel, as he posted a picture of himself from the movie on Instagram. He said it was time to return to his role and that filming starts in December in the Philippines.

To set things straight, we should mention it’s not the first time the Furious 7 actor-producer said he wanted to star in a sequel. In January 2014, Diesel said that the script should be complete within the following month. There is even a possible name the studio is considering, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.

Whether or not it will manage to raise up to Furious 7 fame, it’s hard to guess, but it sure proves the 48-year-old actor can’t stay away from hardcore car scenes for long.
