I told you dashboard cameras were cool, and today I have one more piece of news to back this claim. Good news comes from Vietnam this time, from one of its largest cities, Ho Chi Minh.
Apparently, using a scooter or a motorcycle as both transportation and getaway vehicle is quite common among thieves, and some of them are so bold that they would even rob people as they ride. We ran into such a nasty case only days before, as a scooter rider not only stole a lady’s purse, but also caused her to crash violently.

Well, this is a much pettier thief, as he went for an MP3 player he spotted in an unzipped side-compartment of a fellow rider’s back pack, or maybe pocket. The victim is lucky enough to avoid crashing because of such an unexpected turn of events, and we can see the driver pursuing the thief. Realizing he’s being followed, the thief speeds ahead into the busy traffic, knowing that the car would not stand a chance following him.

What he didn’t know was that the good citizen only got close to the thief so his dash camera would get a clear shot on his scooter’s license plate. The development of this affair is easy to guess: the driver turned over his recording to the police, and the officers easily found the thief and brought him in. He will go to jail.
