It appears like May is recall month, as the NHTSA and Victory motorcycles are also on the recall list of the day. No less than 11 Victory 2014 model year bikes summing up to 872 units are expected in the dealers’ workshops for tests and some corrections, if needed.
2014 Victory Cross Country, Cross Country Eight Ball, Hammer Eight Ball, High Ball, Jackpot, Judge, Ness Cross Country, Vegas Eight Ball, Vision, Boardwalk, and even the early-2015 Victory Gunner model are affected by the issue Victory detected on the very production line. In these models, the crankcase may have been machined incorrectly, and not provide sufficient clearance between the crankshaft and the crank case.
Under certain circumstances, this can lead to the engine seizing unexpectedly, causing the rider to lose control of the motorbike and increasing the risk of a crash and serious injury, or worse. No incident or injury was reported until the time of writing, but Polaris, the owner of Victory Motorcycles advises the customers not to ride the affected bikes until they have been inspected and repaired by a dealer.
