Victory put a firm price on the newest addition to the 2016 roster, and their debut in the electric motorcycle world. The Empulse dropped the R suffix the original Brammo version used to designate the top version and gained a more famous TT one. And a thousand dollars more on the price, now retailing for $19,999.
The direct equivalent in Europe would be €18,400, but this is not the final price the Empulse TT will sell for after crossing the pond, with €20K before incentives being a more realistic expectation.
Some may say that in a world where money is harder and harder to make, a 20-grand motorcycle is not going to cut it. Well, this may be true to a certain point, as electric motorcycles that slot in the segment equivalent to 600-1000cc machines are not the most popular items on the customers' shopping list.
Still, buying an electric motorcycle pays off if you are using it as a vehicle for daily rides and are more than a weekend warrior. In favor of getting this bike as to replace the gas-powered commuter two-wheeler or car, the first thing is obviously the cost of the fuel.
If used daily, the price difference will become obvious in a rather short time, and customers will start to see their "return of investment" soon. Plus, government incentives will also reduce the price a bit, making it even more palatable.
The battery pack comes with a 5-year, 100,000-mile (160,000 km) warranty, and if Victory retains the good practices Brammo had, getting a new battery will not murder your bank account.
As for the rest, you get a manual 6-speed gearbox like the one on your gas-powered bike, adjustable suspensions, cast wheels and a sporty frame, regenerative Brembo brakes and you can also ride in place where most other vehicles are banned from because of noise or emissions, or both.
Definitely not the cheapest electric machine of the lot, the Victory Empulse TT is, however, within striking range for those that have made up their mind and want to go electric.
