Vettel Will Leave If He Doesn't Have Winning Car - Red Bull

Red Bull might have become “the greatest team in the world” at the end of the 2010 season of Formula One – it's not us saying it, but their manager Christian Horner – but they will not get to keep their freshly crowned world champion Sebastian Vettel much longer unless they continue to dominate the Great Circus in similar fashion to the recently ended campaign.

According to the Red Bull company owner and team boss Dietrich Mateschitz, Vettel has just clinched one of many championship crowns this season and, unless he'll be able to win the next ones with the Milton Keynes based team, he will be allowed to leave for another team that can offer him this opportunity.

He will be a world champion a few times more, provided he is sitting in the right car,” said the Austrian billionaire on Austrian television ORG. “We will do our best to give that car to him. If we are not able to, we will have to let him go somewhere where he can be champion again.

Needless to say, those comments alone reflect the gratitude the entire Red Bull organization has for the young German, whose world title coincided with the first ever constructors' crown secured by the Austrian team.

However, facts will be facts and one of them states that Vettel's contract with Red Bull runs out at the end of next season, just like his teammate Mark Webber's. As compared to the situation in which Webber finds himself in (and by that we mean there's no way in hell Red Bull will extend his deal from 2011 onwards), Red Bull has an option for one more year to keep Vettel.

Additionally, the team showed an outspoken interest in signing their new world champion up until 2015. Those negotiations are still under way though, so we'll likely get a finalization of those talks sometime next year.
