Vettel to Receive Trofeo Lorenzo Bandini on Sunday

Sebastian Vettel's duty to Scuderia Toro Rosso will undergo its last episode during the very upcoming Sunday, as the German driver will make a return to the race-winning STR3 as part of the awarding ceremony of the prestigious Lorenzo Bandini trophy.

The 21-year old driver has moved from Scuderia Toro Rosso to Red Bull Racing at the end of last season. During the 2008 Italian Grand Prix, Vettel scored his team's first win in the series, which led to him becoming the 13th driver to be awarded the Lorenzo Bandini trophy.

The aforementioned award is a tribute to former Italian grand prix driver Lorenzo Bandini, who lost his life in an F1 accident during the 1967 Monaco Grand Prix (he burnt to death in his car). To mark the occasion, Vettel will drive last year's STR3 from the Faenza factory all the way to Brisighella, Bandini's hometown (12-km drive).

The Trofeo Lorenzo Bandini was first awarded in 1992, becoming Brisighella's way of celebrating outstanding figures of the sport. Past winners of the award include race drivers Felipe Massa. Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Michael Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jenson Button, Jarno Trulli, Alex Wurz, Giancarlo Fisichella, Jacques Villeneuve, David Coulthard and Ivan Capelli, as well as Ferrari's CEO Luca di Montezemolo.

According to the GMM news agency, Vettel will receive the famous award from Bandini's widow in the town's square.

The RBR racer became the youngest driver to ever win an F1 race, when he took the chequered flag at last year's Italian GP at only 21 years and 73 days of age. He also became the first driver to bring both Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing their first win in the series, as he also won this year's Chinese Grand Prix for the Milton Keynes based team.
