Vettel Names New Car Kinky Kylie

Finally, reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel has set his mind on how to nickname his 2011-spec single-seater. And since the 2011 campaign kicked off in Australia a few hours ago, what better way to celebrate it than naming your car after local pop star singer and Aussie icon Kylie Minogue.

According to the British media, Vettel's RB7 this season will be called “Kinky Kylie”. Of course, the German racer made no reference to Kylie Minogue – there is no link between her and the Red Bull organization or Vettel whatsoever – but the press suggested that the name is a nod to the Australian pop singer.

Action at the Albert Park track has already gotten under way this morning, with Vettel ending the first practice session in 2nd place. Later on, in the afternoon, Kinky Kyle was only 4th fastest.

It has a tight butt, is supple and is good to look at,” said Vettel, obviously talking about his car and not its potential human correspondent.

As you all know, Vettel has quite the history in naming his Red Bull challengers, having performed that ritual from his very first season at Milton Keynes, back in 2009. His first car, the one that got him to second place overall in the 2009 F1 championship, was named “Kate's Dirty Sister”.

In 2010, the initial name of the RB6 for that campaign was “Luscious Liz”, but after only a few races in the series, Vettel had to change the car due to some problems with the chassis. The new challenger, “Randy Mary” eventually got him the world title.
