Sebasitan Vettel has secured his fourth victory in a row, and extended his lead at the head of the drivers’ standings to 13 points, following a very clear victory in the Indian Grand Prix. He was followed by Fernando Alonso, in second place, while Mark Webber came in third.
While the other teams were determined to hold back the Red Bull cars, both Vettel and Webber shot ahead, even on the first lap, leaving the Ferraris and McLarens to battle it out behind them. At turn 4, Fernando Alonso was able to sneak past Jenson Button, as well as Lewis Hamilton, yet lost both positions as both cars overtook him at the same time, immediately after.
Things were uneventful, until the final part of the race, when second-place Webber began to fall behind race leader Vettel, and Fernando Alonso was able to reel him in, and with just 10 laps to go, he took the second spot. No worries for Vettel, who was leading the race comfortably, in a Michael Schumacher-esque way, when the veteran German driver was in top form and at Ferrari.
Following the three drivers at the top, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button came in fourth and fifth for Mclaren, followed by Felipe Massa, Raikkonen, Hulkenberg, Grosjean and Senna. Following the race, Vettel maintains the top spot in the drivers’ standings, with 240 points, followed by Fernando Alonso with 227, while Raikkonen is in third place with just 173 points.
Red Bull still leads the constructors’ standings, with an impressive total of 407 points, with Ferrari at 316 points and McLaren at the 306-point mark.
