Veritas RS III Roadster Enters Production

German carmaker Vermot AG had just revealed that it will begin production on its much anticipated Veritas RS III Roadster, with deliveries set to begin in January 2010. Limited to only 30 units, the carmaker says that eight of them have already been sold to customers from Australia, Monaco and the UK, for 345,000 euros (approx. $515,000).

According to Vermont AG, every single Veritas RS III is handmade by 15 people and takes about eight weeks to complete one; three cars at a time will be built. Though it’s hard to tell from the pictures, the super sports car is a 1+1 seater, with a hidden second seat, and has no windshield.

“Whether manual or sequential transmission, whether racetrack or road, whether untamed or with the ABS switched on - the RS III surely creates an authentic, pristine race feeling,” the
company says on its website

Made from a lightweight carbon fiber body and a tubular frame structure, fitted with a BMW naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V10 engine, Ohlins suspension, Recaro seats, MF upholstery and Dunlop tires, the Veritas RS III weighs only 1,080kg (2,381lbs).

Mated as standard with a 7-speed SMG transmission, a 6-speed manual is available as an option. The power unit develops 507 hp at 7,750 rpm and 520 Nm of torque at 6,100 rpm, enabling it to reach a top speed of 216 mph (347 km/h), with a 0 to 60 acceleration of less than 3.2 seconds. Shiftable ABS and TCS is also a main feature of the sports car, along with electronic shift pedals (start up only with clutch pedal).

Other features of the Roadster are 325/25 rear and 255/30 Dunlop front tires with 5-beam decorated 22-inch full-drop centre rim (front 10,5 - rear 12,5 inches), stainless exhaust system with flap control, Nappa leather bucket seats and a 5-point harness belt.
