The new Audi R8 may have been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show at the beginning of March, but because it's not ready for deliveries to take place yet, you're unlikely to see one on the street. That's why if you want to know if it's worth buying, we suggest visiting Audi Forum Neckarsulm, where they've just announced this V10 plus model is on display.
This bad boy is finished in Vegas Yellow and comes with plenty of carbon fiber bits, contrast stitching and optional leather bits on the inside. But crucially, since it's the V10 plus, it's also the most powerful and fastest car ever made by Audi. We've seen races where the old model humiliates the RS6, so the Mk2 R8 should set benchmarks.
An all-new platform shared with the Lamborghini Huracan underpins this bad boy. Compared to the old supercar, it's noticeably wider and more planted, looking more like a McLaren rival than a Porsche 911 competitor.
The engine at the back is still a 5.2-liter V10, but it has been tuned to 610 horsepower, making 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 330 km/h possible. It's also quite expensive, as, if you exclude the options, one of these bad boys starts at €187,400 ($212,934).
Standard features include LED headlights, quattro AWD and a twin-clutch gearbox. However, if you want the laser headlights they launched last year with the limited edition LMX, it will cost you even more.
That basically means that the 2016 R8 is a budget Huracan that saves you about 15% of the money. Some people would just have the Lamborghini because it's better designed, but Audi fans will probably not agree with that assessment.
