BMW has big plans with its “i” sub-brand, but until the i3 and i8 transform into mainstream best-sellers, the two models are still among the most exclusive Bimmers you can buy.
Usually, exclusivity goes hand in hand with more exclusivity, which is probably one of the reasons why Vector Watch, the makers of a smartwatch that last 30 days without charging, decided to collaborate with BMW on a timepiece.
The Vector Luna BMW i Limited Edition smartwatch was specifically designed to literally go hand in hand with either the BMW i3 or the BMW i8.
Apart from the branding, the smartwatch is linked with the two BMW models via its leather strap, which is made from the same type of leather that is used in the cars.
As some of you know, the leather that BMW chose to utilize in the i3 and the i8 is unique thanks to the way it is made. Unlike the leather upholstery used by other cars and carmakers, it is tanned using a natural olive oil leaf-based agent, making it substantially greener than others.
Only 150 units of the Vector Luna BMW i Limited Edition will be made, with each smartwatch having an engraved number on the side of the matte black frame. Unlike other Vector Luna smartwatch owners, only those who opt for the limited edition model will get access to two BMW-inspired watch faces, taking the whole “exclusive” idea to a higher level.
Vector Watch is known in the tech world as the only type of smartwatch that has a battery life comparable to that of a regular timepiece, despite having similar capabilities with other rival smartwatches. It's also compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows-based smartphones by default. Now that the BMW i3 has a much better range, the partnership between the two companies is probably a match made in heaven.
