We’re usually downers on ultra-rare exotic cars. They’re too expensive, never work properly and aren’t very practical in the real world. But they always have incredible appeal due to their unique design.
There’s a Ferrari in just about every corner or the world, but a Vector W8, not so much. That’s because only 17 of them were ever built in the 90’s, costing a staggering $455,000.
What made this car unique was that it was designed to last the life of the owner if it was properly maintained. They based the design on a racing car - an aluminum honeycomb semi-monocoque that was held together with 5000 rivets from the airplane industry.
Power came from a 6-liter V8, which had been twin-turbocharged to produce 630 horsepower.
Thanks to the aerodynamic body, it was able to reach 220 mph (354 km/h).
