Vauxhall VXR8 Bathurst Thinks 560 HP Is Enough...

What's the result of installing a Walkinshaw Performance 122 Supercharger on a Vauxhall VXR8? The correct answer would be a Vauxhall VXR8 Bathurst S Edition, as the British manufacturer has just announced a new high-performance sedan that produces a maximum power of no less than 560 hp!

Even though some people would surely think this is a bit too much given the economic crisis we're currently experiencing, Vauxhall says the Bathurst S Edition is less expensive than any UK car providing more than 500 horsepower, with an estimated price of 44,985 pounds. The Bathurst Edition costs 37,995 pounds while optional 20-inch alloy wheels are sold at 1500 pounds.

Only a few units of this car will be produced in the near future, Vauhall stated, with details regarding the launch date expected to be provided in the near future.

In terms of features, the revised engine delivers 30 percent more power than the standard engine, partially thanks to the aforementioned supercharger but also to a number of upgrades such as a large capacity intercooler, high-flow fuel injectors and a separate cold air intake. Speaking of exterior styling, the car comes with Vauhall's Bi-Modal Exhaust plus front fog light covers and Bathurst covers.

“As with most supercharged cars, the S's power delivery is exceptionally linear, with a huge slug of torque available from very low down in the rev range; but push the engine towards its redline and there's no let up in the car's performance, just a seamless stream of power,” Vauxhall said in a statement.

“Dynamically, both Bathursts retain the VXR8's much praised ride quality, but body control is enhanced and the handling made more exploitable for the enthusiastic driver.”
