Vauxhall Rocks February's UK Car Sales

The Luton-based carmaker has dominated the UK’s car sales last month with a total of 9,812 cars registered, nearly 2,300 more than that achieved by any other manufacturer. The facelifted Corsa lead the field with record sales of 2,617 units.

Vauxhall ended February with an amazing five cars in the top ten. The Astra range of cars, which now includes the British-built Sports Tourer variant, was the second best-selling Vauxhall, followed by the Insignia, Zafira and Meriva.

Despite the weak market, the carmaket won over British customers in three sectors: mid-size, with the Insignia; compact MPV, with the Zafira and Meriva; and small-car with the Corsa. Last year, the Astra was the UK’s best-selling retail car, while both the Insignia and Zafira led their segments, while the Insignia was the most popular fleet purchase in the mid-size class.

“Vauxhall is making headway like never before in the British car market. Last month proved that we are now capable of attracting more customers than any other manufacturer, and this is down to the strength of our products, their competitive pricing and a warranty on every new car which has the potential to last a lifetime. We’re also confident that our sponsorship of the Home Nations football will help us to engage with new customers, who may never have considered buying a Vauxhall before,” said Duncan Aldred, Vauxhall’s Managing Director.

It’s not just the cars themselves that attracted customers, as the company’s Lifetime Warranty has also provided buyers of new and select used cars with a level of service which could prove a trend-setter in the market, enhancing the appeal of every model in the line-up.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
