We've grown accustomed to the way Vauxhall does its business. Usually, its press department just photoshops every official Opel photo, sometimes forgetting to move the steering wheel to the right, and changes the press release to include words like "litre" or "colour". However, the hot version of the Adam city car is so interesting that they decided to change the whole name.
We are, of course, talking about the Adam S, which was revealed earlier this year during the Paris Motor Show. Now it's making its way to the British isles under a new name, Adam Grand Slam.

The official debut has been scheduled to take place at an event called Autosport International, where potential buyers will be able to check out this Fiat 500 Abarth rival.

What do you drive? I have an Adam Grand Slam. Does it run on ham?

Silly names have always been a part of this small car's identity. With colors like James Blonde, it's pretty obvious that this motor has a nice sense of humor. The sports model plays at that game too, with a roof finished in "Red & Roll".

Yet why call it Grand Slam? We think it's because Slam was a trim level, the sportiest of them all and they now want to build on that.

But the Adam S is a unique model, built with input from the OPC division, who gave it better stopping power. Unfortunately, they haven't played with the engine, which is a unit similar to what's offered on the Astra.

A 1.4-liter turbo unit has been installed, giving the Grand Slam 150 PS and total torque output of only 220 Nm (162 lb-ft). That's more than the standard 500 Abarth (European versions start with 135 hp), yet the hot baby Opel is rather slow, taking 8.5 seconds to reach 100 km/k.

Pricing information should be announced in early January. Expect the Vauxhall Adam Grand Slam to cost somewhere around £17,000.
