Vauxhall Offers Swappage Scheme in UK

It’s clear that government incentives had a very important role in last year’s sales. Everybody admits it, and some automakers actually got very worried that without those money, sales will drop. While rumors say that Fiat tried to force the Italian government to continue the incentives, some automakers solved the problem themselves: in UK, Vauxhall will offer customers an even more generous package, available on three of its most popular ranges.

Vauxhall’s Swappage scheme will get customers at least £3,000 off all new Astras, Astra Sport Hatches and most new Corsa models, as long as you bring a roadworthy car which is more than 7 years old, you have owned the car for more than 90 days, it’s registered with insurance, road tax and MOT. There is no age limit and dealers will also allow a husband/wife to trade in their partner’s car, as long as they live at the same address.

By trading a used car you can reduce the cost of the 2010 Corsa 1.0 Energy to just £8,925 or the cost of an Astra to £12,995 for the Exclusiv 1.4 model. The Vaxuhall Swappage scheme is available for all Corsa - except S & Exclusiv - new Astra and Astra Sport Hatch models ordered or registered between February 5 and March 31, 2010.

“We’re determined that our customers will continue to enjoy excellent offers as the Government’s scrappage scheme comes to an end,” said Rory Harvey, Vauxhall’s Retail Sales Director. “Vauxhall Swappage not only increases the amount of discount off selected Vauxhalls from £2,000 to at least £3,000, but it also widens the net to cars over seven years old, compared with ten years plus in the old, Government-backed scheme.”
