Vauxhall Mokka X Unveiled, UK Pricing Announced

We know that the Opel version of the Mokka X made its debut way back in March, during the Geneva Motor Show. However, this is the first time we've been able to show you a Vauxhall version with the steering wheel on the right.

That's because production started a few days ago, and GM's British division released a full press kit, complete with photos and pricing information.

The first Mokka X examples will arrive in October, but you can already order one from £17,590 OTR. That gets you the basic model with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine rated at 115 PS and a 5-speed manual. We wouldn't bother with that one because the much more powerful 1.4 turbo making 140 PS starts at 18,310 and actually gets better emissions.

However, you'd be pretty crazy not to get one of the 1.6-liter turbodiesels, which can get up to 72.4 mpg combined, equivalent to 103 grams of CO2. This means private buyers will only have to pay £20 a year in road tax. If you're after the flagship of the range, that would be the new 1.4-liter Direct Injection Turbo (152PS) petrol, joined to an automatic gearbox. And unlike most of its rivals, the Mokka X also offers all-wheel drive.

As well as new engines, the Mokka has an "X" suffix that we'll see on all the other crossovers, plus a revised exterior. The front end looks posh, especially thanks to those LED headlights.

This system replaces the previous bi-xenon setup and adapts more quickly. It's sweet of them to offer technology from the Astra, but the price is a little steep. All models get 18-inch alloy wheels, while LED daytime running lights, front fog lights and silver roof rails are also standard. They also come with an eight-inch touchscreen on the dash, from which you can operate the latest iteration of the Intellilink infotainment system. It is compatible with both Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto systems, but the built-in OS is cool as well.
