During the first half or 2014, Opel and its sister brand Vauxhall sold an impressive 51,528 Insignia sedans, notchbacks and estates. The 34% growth rate compared to the same period las year is largely due to a mid-life model refresh that added new engines and a more pleasant interior. The Insignia is now the second best-selling mid-size model in Europe after the Passat and this next story will probably explain why.
Equipped with a 2-liter CDTi engine, one Insignia Tourer managed a very impressive 990 miles (1593 km) on one tank of fuel. Many other cars claim to do that these days, but only under ideal conditions. What's interesting about this Insignia is that it was driven by an average person, one sales manager called Dino Landico.

He leased the car from Toomey Leasing Group and took it all the way to Italy, a round trip of 3,200 miles (5149 kilometers). What's more, his family of four and their luggage were all present inside the Insignia 2.0 CDTi SRi VX-Line for the whole journey.

“Lowering carbon emissions is a key priority for the company which is one of the reasons behind why we have chosen the Vauxhall Insignia, which has CO2 emissions of just 98g/km, for our company’s fleet. As these cars are used by our employees outside of work as well, low fuel consumption is even more important, so it’s very encouraging that we have already received such positive feedback from those who have noticed a difference. Since our employees will be using these vehicles at home as well as at work we needed to choose a model that would be versatile enough for all kinds of situations,"
said Martin Wroe, managing director of Toomey Leasing Group.

The same company that leased the Insignia says it currently has a fleet of 20 five-door estate models which are used by sales managers to visit clients nationwide and will do around 15,000 to 35,000 miles per year (24140 km to 56327 km). All are equipped with a six-speed manual, which is the most efficient Vauxhall has, and Start/Stop.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
