Vauxhall, the Luton-based manufacturer, has kicked-off the year with a bang by registering a record-breaking Commercial Vehicle retail market share of 18.85%. The impressive start comes as a result of strong sales figures which have increased 57 percent last month.
The official figures were released today by the British Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, which also highlighted the fact that total Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles sales were up 44 percent in January. In the light van segment the Combo topped sales, while the Luton-built Vivaro led the field in the medium segment.
“We are delighted that Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles achieved the best retail share on record, proving that even in a challenging market there is always demand for good quality vans, with low running costs and excellent manufacturer support. Retail van sales were boosted by the offer of four years 0% APR finance, four years’ free servicing, a four year warranty and four years AA cover,” stated Richard Collier, Vauxhall’s National Commercial Vehicle Sales Manager, in an official company press release.
The sales results come just a few days after Vauxhall’s announcement that it will be the first manufacturer to offer ‘eco’ models across their whole van range, with the launch of ecoFLEX Commercial Vehicles.
This range includes two new Vivaro ecoFLEX vans, powered by either a 2.0CDTi engine that develops 90 hp or a 2.0CDTi with 115PS, both with CO2 outputs of just 185g/km (despite having payloads of up to 1254 kg or 2764 lbs). In the case of the Movano ecoFLEX, it comes with a 2.3 CDTI mill that offers 100 hp, while only emitting 202 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
