A new electric supercar has recently been born in Australia, where Varley Electric Vehicles has launched the evR-450. The company is part of the Varley Group, which is one of Australia’s top specialty vehicle manufacturers and now wants to move into a new segment of the market with this development.

The vehicle you see here was hand built and comes with an aluminum monocoque chassis, being powered by twin carbon ironless core AC motors. These were custom-made by Ultramotive Technologies and use Tritium’s Wavesculptor inverters.

Energy comes from a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that manages to offer a driving range of up to 100 miles (160 km). A full charge takes eight hours using a standard 15A outlet, with the carmaker working on a fast charge system.

The Varley evR-450 needs 3.8 seconds to complete the 0 to 62 mph sprint and comes with a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h). The company also offers a second version, which comes with inferior performance, but still manages to impress, posting a 0 to 62 mph sprint time of 4.6 seconds and atop speed of 100 mph (160 km/h).
