Rock artist Samuel Roy “Sammy” Hagar, also known as The Red Rocker, is on of the exclusive happy owners that will purchase one of the 499 LaFerrari supercars. Known to be a grand Ferrari collector, having six different models in his garage, the 66-year old heavy metal singer is one of the 499 people do get the new model.
What, you thought only rappers buy eccentric exotic sportscars? He might be a heavy metal head, but Samuel Roy Hagar is by far one of the music industry’s great car collectors. The 66-year old singer was recently visited by Yahoo Motoramic and talked about his passion for speed and beauty. The rocker’s house based in Marin County town of San Rafael, California, is not only a crib of a celebrity, but also home to some precious collectables.

A green Ferrari 456 GT is parked in the driveway, and once you get in the back of the building a huge room with a dozen sportscars is unveiled. According to the source, the collection features auto makers such as Aston Martin, Lotus and Ford, but keeps a special room for six Ferraris.

The man is a obviously a big fan of the Italian exotic, and a great lover of speed. He even wrote a song about it, called “I Can’t Drive 55,” which was a hit back in the ‘80s. Buying the new $1.4 million model was only the next natural step to take. “I couldn’t be more excited, and I’m buying it to drive it. I suspect I might even have to take some more driving courses to really be able to pilot this baby with confidence,” Hagar explained.

Well, he might actually have to do that considering we're looking at the first mild hybrid from Ferrari, providing the highest power output of any Ferrari whilst decreasing fuel consumption by 40 percent. It comes with a mid rear mounted V12 Internal Combustion Engine that has a 6.3-liter capacity producing 788 horsepower and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm), supplemented by a 160 horsepower KERS unit (called Hy-Kers), which will provide short bursts of extra power.

In other words, this monster will develop 950 horsepower and a total torque of 664 lb-ft (900 Nm). LaFerrari uses a carbon fibre monocoque structure developed by Ferrari’s F1 technical director Rory Byrne, with a claimed 27 percent more torsional rigidity and 22 percent more beam stiffness than the Enzo.

Looking at this fellow’s future ride, what else is there left to say than: Rock On!
