Valentino Rossi Vs. Rinaldo Capello in the Monza Rally Show

Now that he has secured his 9th championship crown in the MotoGP series and following this week's testing session at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, Valentino Rossi will once again try to snatch victory in the Monza Rally Show, later this month.

The aforementioned event will get under way on November 27th – through Nov 29th – and consists of several important drivers from a wide array of motorsport competitions tackle the Autodromo di Monza in WRC machineries. Rossi will not be the only notable presence at the show however, as Le Mans veteran and Rinaldo Capello also announced his presence in the event.

While Capello can brag around with winning no less than 4 editions of the Monza Rally Show, Rossi only has 2 victories on his CV. He will return to the Italian track trying to get back on the winning streak, after scoring back-to-back 1st places in 2006 and 2007.

Rossi will therefore return to WRC action – although this won't exactly be a regular WRC event – following his absence from this year's Great Britain Rally. The Italian champion used to tackle the British event year after year in recent seasons – either on a Ford, or at the wheel of a Subaru Impreza WRC – but he has taken this year off to focus on his 7th MotoGP title.

“The Doctor” revealed several times in the past that WRC is a viable solution for continuing his motor racing career, once he'll put an end to his motorcycle racing years. Although he asked Ferrari's Stefano Domenicali for another test with an F1 car, Rossi admitted that switching to the Great Circle may prove a little too late.

He is currently bound to Yamaha for an extra season, after which he already admitted he is tempted to take on a fruitful offer from Ducati in the same MotoGP class.
