Nine-time World Champion and iconic racer Valentino Rossi announces the VR46 Riders Academy, a riding school for talented young Italian riders. The hedquarters of the VR46 Riders Academy are in Rossi’s native town of Tavullia, the same place where his Motor Ranch is located.
So far, Rossi’s riding school has 6 students: Franco Morbidelli, Luca Marini, Andrea Migno , Nicolò Bulega , Romano Fenati and Pecco Bagnaia. While Marini (Rossi’s younger brother), Migno and Bulega are already riding in the Spanish CEV championship, Fenati and Bagnaia are part of Rossi’s SKY Moto3 team. Morbidelli will ride in the Moto2 series.

All six riders are trained together, but Il Dottore has prepared specific track and gym routines, each tailored to the different physical and psychological attitudes. Valentino is helped by a team of professionals who manages relations with motorsport teams, logistics, contractual support, coaching and administration of the whole enterprise.

There is no word on whether Valentino Rossi’s VR46 Riders Academy will accept young riders from countries other than Italy, but we can foresee that requests will soon be pouring in from all sides as the 6 riders currently trained at Tavullia will claim their first victories in their respective championships.
While some voices see Rossi’s involvement in Moto3 and the riding school as a form of insurance for a steady income after his retirement, I’m sure many fans and road racing enthusiasts are simply wishing him good luck in continuing his racing career beyond 2014.

Now, if only such riding schools were more numerous… imagine the possibilities! Follow the link for more on the VR46 Riders Academy.
