Valentino Rossi Replaced by Team Manager Lin Jarvis at Jerez Press Conference

The pre-race press conference at Jerez in Spain will not have Valentino Rossi at the table, even though he is one of the names that seldom misses out these moments ahead of a race. His seat will be taken by Yamaha Team Manager Lin Jarvis, and the reasons are not that hard to guess.

It's rarely when a team official becomes a part of the pre-race press conference, which is an event traditionally dedicated to riders. Most of the time, at least. However, it looks like this Thursday we'll get to see the official confirmation of Jorge Lorenzo's team switch, from Yamaha to Ducati. Obviously, there could hardly be anyone better than Mr. Jarvis for answering the ton of questions that will pour in.

The meeting will have Marc Marquez, Jorge Lorenzo, Maverick Vinales, Andrea Dovizioso, and Scott Redding alongside Lin Jarvis, but we can expect that the "press cannons" will be targeting Jarvis and Lorenzo.

Also, in case Maverick Vinales is announced as a replacement for Lorenzo at Yamaha, he'll also have to do a lot of "explaining," though probably not as much as Jarvis or Lorenzo.

This year sees the situation of 2010 reversed. Back then, it was Rossi who was leaving Yamaha for a two-year contract with Ducati, though it proved to be an ill-fated move that deprived both him and House Iwata of success.

However, Ducati has changed a lot since those years and podiums have now become less of a surprise for the Italian team. Still in search of a victory after all these seasons, Ducati has even brought MotoGP Legend Casey Stoner as a test rider to help refine the Desmosedici GP bike.

We are waiting for Thursday's announcements as well, because Lorenzo's contract with Ducati means that one of the Andreas, Dovizioso or Iannone must go. Either way, the rider market and all the scheming and planning will erupt after the Thursday moment.
