The 2017 MotoGP season is starting and if you followed the first official IRTA tests at Sepangn, in Malaysia, you might have observed that Valentino Rossi brought out his new winter-snow-globe-themed AGV Pista GP R "Winter Test" special helmet.
Designed as a snow globe, the helmet pays homage to the Doctor’s hometown, featuring the miniature of the picturesque landscape of Tavullia covered with snow, enclosed in a glass sphere.

On the top-left of the visor, the trac sign of the town of birth and the speed limit, which is obviously 46 km/h. On the front of the helmet, next to the city hall and to the wall with the Social Fan Club’s banner, the AGV tricolor logo stands out, the distinctive element that for more than 20 years now supports Valentino throughout his incredible career.

Moving on to the chin-guard area, the distinctive fluo-yellow number 46 crosses the wooden base of the snow globe, which encloses the head of the nine-time World Champion up to the Biplano spoiler of the helmet.

The Pista GP R helmet here is the evolution of the AGV’s Pista GP (which has been named the safest motorcycle helmet by SHARP in 2014 from a total of 331 helmets from around the world which have been tested), the Moto GP helmet, and is the most protective helmet ever developed according to the Italian company. The full carbon fiber helmet offers an increased field of vision through the introduction of Race 3 Max Pinlock, a Class 1 Optic visor with 100% Max Vision Pinlock (120) and is characterized by a new-patented Visor Lock System (VLS).

On a more technical side, the aerodynamic performance has been improved thanks to the new wind-tunnel-tested Biplano rear spoiler, while comfort benefits from a new-patented interior structure, and an implemented Integrated Ventilation System (IVS). Pista GP R is the first helmet to include a hydration system, featuring internal channels and a drinking valve placed inside the chin area.
