V10 BMW E30 M3 Puts 700 HP Audi RS6 to Shame

It’s hard being an Audi these days. It’s not that they don’t make good cars anymore, it’s just that there are ludicrous Bimmers out there that will make any Audi huddle up and cry in a dark corner.

Thought 700 HP and all-wheel-drive would be enough to put an E30 M3 to shame? Guess again! The cars in the video below fit these descriptions but the result is absolutely surprising, when they are pitted against each other in a classic drag race.

The video description says that the RS6 was tuned by the guys from Evotech and has over 700 HP. We know that to be true as we’ve seen it on various other occasions on DragTimes, punishing even Lambos and other supercars for the audacity of going up against it.

The 5.2-liter V10 engine under the bonnet with two turbochargers makes 580 HP and plenty of torque in stock guise to put even Ferraris to shame while carrying 4 people around. It was a brilliant car that went out of production in 2010, unfortunately.

The M3, on the other hand, uses a V10 engine and... that’s all we know. If the man behind the wheel is a true BMW fan, we’re guessing the engine came from an E60 M5, meaning it’s a 5-liter naturally aspirated V10 unit making 507 HP and 520 Nm of torque, once again, plenty for any kind of car, especially a light one such as the E30 model.

On the track though, despite the Audi being a clear favorite, things didn’t go perfect for the Ingolstadt car that got left behind by quite a lot due to some unknown reasons.

It might be the weight advantage of the Bimmer, as the E30 used to weigh just a little over a tone (with a V10 engine, maybe it reached 1.5 tons) while the Audi had nearly two tons to carry around. At the same time, the power difference between the two (if the S85 engine on the M3 is stock) is way too big to be obliterated by the weight factor, not to mention the skills you need to control that rear axle from skidding all over the place.

Either way, it makes for a pretty interesting race, overall, one that still has a couple of questions unanswered.
