It's not the first time when we bring you SFD Industries' drift trikes, but this is a special occasion. These wacky drift-lovers came up with a beefed-up machine that looks like a trike from hell on steroids.
Powered by an air-cooled v-twin engine, their new trike is so evil that it can also take on drag racing against Polaris side-by-sides and not get lost. As if its power were not enough, this new contraption was also equipped with what appears to be an open-pipe exhaust that produces a thundering sound.
When we first heard it, we thought it was a Harley engine, but the photos you can also check after the jump revealed an entirely different powerplant. We still don't have an official confirmation as to what engine was used, but the closest resemblance we could find is the Honda GX690 engine.
That's right, it appears that SFD Industries are using an electric power generator engine to drive their insane toys. The slant oil filter is the detail that makes us go for the GX690, anyway.
In case this is true, we're looking at a 688cc 4-stroke drift trike that can produce 22.1 hp at 3,600 rpm and a neat 48.3 Nm (36/6 lb-ft) of torque at 2,500 revs per minute. The GX690 engine weighs 44 kg (94.8 lb) in its generator trim, but we can assume that SFD Industries stripped it of anything that was not entirely necessary.
Even so, the small weight of the rest of the trike should make riding this beast quite a thrilling experience once you've gotten acquainted with the wild character of this contraption.
Needless to say, we'd ride the hell out of such a trike, but wearing a cross helmet and gloves. Epic stuff!
