Using Darth Vader and Storm Troopers to Sell 1984 Lamborghini Countach 5000 S May Work

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is one of the most expected movies of the year, if not of the decade. It’s so big that Lucasfilm has partnered up with not one but seven automakers to promote the film. Since both the exterior and interior of this 1984 Lamborghini Countach 5000 S were finished in white, this British auction house figured it could use Darth Vader and a bunch of Storm Troopers to market it.

The idea is not the worst, considering that - as you can observe in the pictures above - the Raging Bull in question looks like it was built for Darth Vader to drive. The 1984 Lambo is the second Countach built out of the 5000 S series and it truly comes with a futuristic, space-like look. The all-white finish - including its flared wheels - completes with a huge delta wing growing out from the rear.

Chris Routledge, Managing Director of COYS, said, “This car is arguably the best model to own out of all Lamborghini Countachs, and would make even the most loyal Jedi consider joining the Dark Side. It embraces all that is Star Wars, making it the ultimate gift for the ultimate enthusiast, ready to be used and enjoyed.

The rare breed will go under the hammer as part of a bigger collection of fine automobiles and film memorabilia called Coys’ True Greats auction set for December 1 at the Royal Horticultural Society in London. Its estimated price ranges from £270,000 ($406,387 at the current exchange rate) to £320,000 ($481,376 at the current exchange rate), but the whole Star Wars story may increase its value when the time of bidding comes.

According to the British auction house, the sale will also feature Ex Paddy Hopkirk and Timo Makinen BMC works 1966 Mini Cooper S, 1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale Earl’s Court Motor Show car, and a 1925 Bugatti T 30 Tourer.

The natural question that pops up is what kind of car Luke Skywalker would drive, but perhaps you already know the answer and care to share it with the rest of the world.
