You know the country is in good hands when its Vice President climbs into a 49-year-old sports car, and the first thing he does after switching the engine on is take off in a cloud of smoke and the sound of screeching tires.
Jay Leno posted on Twitter a preview of its upcoming show featuring the United States Vice President, Mr. Joe Biden. It turns out the VP is a bit of a car nut himself, even though he doesn't have a collection as impressive as the one hiding in the TV host's garage.

He does have a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, though, and the car is in perfect shape. It also comes with a beautiful story, one that might make you love your father a little less. You see, Joe Biden received the Corvette as a wedding gift from his pops 49 years ago, and he's been taking care of the iconic American sports car ever since.

Which, if you think about it, is a little ironic since US state officials are rarely allowed to drive themselves, that task falling into the hands of the secret service agents since they are entrusted with Mr. Biden's safety, and we all know how safe the roads are. If you don't know just listen to Elon Musk for a minute or so, he's bound to bring up how many people the un-autonomous cars kill at least once.

Now, though, with the Vice President getting close to the end of his mandate, it's time for him to rekindle the relationship with the Corvette. With a little help from his sons who had the engine rebuilt last Christmas, the car runs as smoothly as ever, which actually means that it can go from zero to sixty in just 4.7 seconds. But as Leno mentioned quite a few times in the short clip, the brakes might not be up to par by modern standards.

Toward the end, the video gets a little Top Gear-ish, with a new Corvette showing up out of the blue. A short rolling drag race ends quickly with the modern car winning easily, but as the two come to a stop, the driver in the silver 2015 shows his face. No, it's not the Stig, but Secretary of State Colin Powell. Phew, at least it wasn't Vladimir Putin.
