US to Get Own Version of Abarth 500

We all know that the Americans like their cars in a certain way and this means that automotive producers that come from outside the US have to make efforts to adapt. This is true even if we are talking about an incredibly hot car, such as the Abarth 500.

Yes, the Americans will get a special version of the Abarth 500, which will come with changes that go beyond its skin, as autoblog.it reports. It seems that the US incarnation of the Abarth 500 will come with certain modifications that will help it pass the specific crash tests and will come with a modified rear axle.

In addition to that, the vehicle will be modified in order for it to be adapted to American roads. To be more precise, the straight line performance will be enhanced. The turbocharged 1.4-liter unit, which delivers 135 hp on the European version (or 160 hp on the Esseesse version) will come with 175 hp, thus increasing the vehicle's wow factor even when the driver isn’t fighting G forces in the bends.

The interior will also be revised, receiving modified front seats that allow better access to the rear bench, a set of steering wheel controls for the cruise control system, as well as side airbags that extend to the rear window.

Before we end this story we’d like to tell you that we tested the (Euro-spec, obviously) Abarth 500 and experienced one of the cars with the highest fun density in the world. You can read the review by following this link.
