Those of you paying attention to the US-spec Porsche 911 GT3 RS units have probably noticed these Neunelfers don't come with the roll cage everybody sees online.
Now, as we've seen on other track-savvy Porsches, the GT3 RS gets a joyful collection of hardcore features called the Clubsport Package.
Aside from the roll cage, this includes a cabin-mounted fire extinguisher, a six-point harness and the wiring for a kill switch.
Well, you just can't enjoy such features in the US and that's because American safety regulations state the cabin can't house non-deformable objects that can injure the head of an occupant not wearing the seat belt.
Well, there's a solution to that problem now, one that comes from aftermarket developers such as BBI Performance. For $2,495, the Californian tuner, which has quite the obsession for Zuffenhausen machines, will build and install a half-cage using chrome molly steel tubing.
You'll be able to check out such a cage occupying the rear seat area of a GT3 RS in the video below.
The clip, which comes from Shmee150, takes us on a tour of BBI's workshop in Huntington Beach. And we assure you this is the kind of place you'd never want to leave.
From street cars to racing machines, these guys play with Porsches as if they were LEGO pieces. For instance, the tuner has recently tweaked a Cayman GT4's suspension. You know, that special part of the GT4 that has been borrowed from the 911 GT3 and sets the fixed-roof model apart from the just-as-special Boxster Spyder.
As for the motorsport field, from a 911 GT2 that's been put on an extreme carbon diet (wheels included) to a 1,600 hp flat-six build for half-mile racing and other such shenanigans, this shop has quite the portfolio waiting to be unleashed with the help of the "play" button below.
