Mitsubishi said today that production of the US-spec i-MiEV has commenced at their Mizushima Plant. This electric five-door car will first become available in Hawaii, California, Washington, and Oregon from the end of November this year. From then on, MMC plans to expand sales throughout other parts of the United States and Canada by the end of fiscal year 2012.
In order to be sold in North America, the i-MiEV has been fitted with an advanced airbag system that detects passengers’ seating position and controls deployment force, and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The car also has slightly more grunt in order to meet the preferences of customers in North America.

In addition to this, it also has new front and rear bumpers for enhanced protection and stability along with a larger body. Mitsubishi first started selling the i-MiEV in Japan in July 2009, and subsequently exported it to European countries in 2010.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
