Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has organized the premiere of the US-spec Alfa Romeo Giulia at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. Which doesn't necessarily mean that the wait is finally over, as Alfa's market offensive has been pushed back about six months until the middle of 2016 due to reliability problems. But hey, at least we have some numbers, if not a real car.
The first piece of information is really juicy. Full specs for the Giulia Quadrifoglio have been revealed. In America, its 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 developed by Ferrari will be rated at 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. The cavalcade will be channeled through a 6-speed manual gearbox and a carbon fiber driveshaft to push the sedan to 60 in just 3.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 191 mph. Eat your heart out, all you restricted German car owners!

"The all-new Giulia is not just a new car, but an entirely new benchmark that represents the next chapter in Alfa Romeo's rich 105-year heritage," said Reid Bigland, Head of Alfa Romeo Brand, FCA - North America. "With an all-new lightweight platform and class-leading power and handling, the all-new Giulia delivers on the pedigree of incredible technology, race-inspired performance and Italian design and style."

In exchange for a blistering Nurburgring time, sweet handling and all that jazz, Alfa Romeo dealers will ask "around $70,000." That's before incentives and delivery taxes, which means the 4C spider could be considered cheap at $54,000. Beauty certainly isn't cheap, especially when it's accompanied by ceramic brakes and carbon fiber trim.

It seems that Alfa Romeo's plan to increase sales includes launching ever more expensive cars and delaying them due to technical setbacks. That could definitely work, right?!

A short while after the Giulia Q is revealed, Alfa will launch an "entry-level" model with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 276 horsepower. That's typical for Italian cars that try to outdo German rivals in the horsepower wars.

As an interesting side note, Japanese luxury brand Infiniti revealed the QX30 today, which, together with the regular Q30, is expected to double the company's sales. Company bosses also downplayed the possibility of launching a performance model inspired by the Q50 Eau Rouge concept. Both strategies can't be right, can they?

Editor's note: Because Quadrifoglio Verde has been boiled down to just Quadrifoglio, the red rocket is called simply "Giulia Q." This has to be the first time the letter Q is used to define speed, despite it sitting right next to R.
