According to Pikes Research, the future of the plug-in EV is assured. They reckon that since manufacturers, corporations and governments are investing these colossal amounts of money into the development of EVs and their peripherals, they are here to stay (and grow in popularity considerably).
According to the research director, John Gartner, “Automotive companies have made a strong commitment to electric vehicles, and their viability as transportation platform is no longer in doubt.” - a simple yet strong statement which is, in fact, true. Also, research indicates that plug-in EVs will hit the 1 million per year mark in 2017 and then reach 1.7-million vehicles sold per year, by 2020.
We have no doubts that these predictions will materialize, and they may even be surpassed if the manufacturers and markets react with according speed to the rapidly changing face of the modern automotive industry and its ever-changing requirements and statistics.
