US F1 Don't Deny YouTube Rumors

While some teams are consistently denying sponsorship reports linking them to important companies – see the Manor Grand Prix case, with their alleged partnership with Virgin Group – US F1 takes the other approach. The North Carolina based outfit was recently linked with a sponsorship deal with YouTube, and the team's co-owner Peter Windsor did little to deny it.

Recent reports in the British media showed that YouTube co-founder American Chad Hurley was seen visiting the Formula One paddock during last month's British Grand Prix, at Silverstone. The guest of honor was not interviewed by anyone, but suggestions that he might be interested in investing in the Great Circle soon surfaced in the media.

When asked about it, the former reporter for US broadcaster Speed TV (Windsor, that is) did not deny the rumor, but actually confirmed the deal might happen.

I did see Chad at Silverstone, he was around and it was good to see him there. People have tied him to our team, which is incredibly flattering, and who knows?” said Windsor for his former employer, with whom he closed all collaboration following the British Grand Prix.

YouTube is not the only big-time company that US F1 was linked with in recent months, as Google was also regarded as a potential partner for the US-based team. However, neither of the two reports were confirmed or denied by the team owners. Windsor did reveal, however, that several novelties concerning their F1 operations will be disclosed very soon, including future sponsors and alternative European base.
