US Cypher Group Announces F1 Bid for 2011

Although ART Grand Prix has postponed its Formula One project for the 2011 season due to lack of financial support, another team has already taken its place in the bidding process for the next season's F1 entry list. The new company is from North America and is called Cypher Group.

The aforementioned company made an official announcement that they have submitted an application for the 2011 entry list, while also confirming Jonathan Summerton as one of their drivers for the aforementioned campaign.

We have officially submitted our candidature and hope that we will shortly be selected by the FIA as the 13th entry in the 2011 FIA Formula One World Championship. We aspire to bring America's red, white, and blue back into Formula 1,” said the statement.

We're not sure what the FIA will make of this in the next few days, when they'll have to evaluate all the teams that have announced their willingness to become part of F1, considering the immense failure of the last US-related project, US F1. More, it seems that the Cypher Group will employ a multitude of people formerly involved in the Charlotte-based project.

Jonathan is capable of racing against the top Formula 1 drivers and we hope to be able to give him a competitive car. We look forward to the opportunity of being on the starting grid in 2011,” added the statement about Summerton, who has previously races in European series like F3 and A1GP.

However, it is believed that this new project has nothing to do with Parris Mullins' (former US F1 representative) efforts to create a tie-up with one of the existing teams in the series. The other 3 teams involved in the bidding process are Epsilon Euskadi, Stefan GP and Durango.
