The Volkswagen CC may look sleek and sporty, but it’s basically a Euro-spec Passat underneath, the previous generation of the car was called the Passat CC, let’s not forget. VW have decided to give it some more shove, so they’ve given it the 2.0-liter TSI engine lifted straight from the Golf GTI, which in US spec puts out 200hp, 10 less than its European counterpart.
This new version of the car is called (not unpredictably) the CC R-Line, and apart from the engine which can be mated to either a manual or a dual-clutch automatic gearbox, both with six gears to choose from, it gets a more aggressive front bumper with redesigned foglights, lower side skirts and 18-inch rims. Further details include the ever-present badging which in this case is made up of multiple silve “R” badges scattered around its exterior, which is further complimented by smoked rear lights.

If you’re the kind of person for whom standard equipment is important, the CC R-Line will not disappoint, with Bi-Xenon headlights which integrate LED DRLs, LED tail lights, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, dual-zone climate control, heated 12-way adjustable front seats, touch screen infotainment system, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity and some other less significant additions which one would take for granted nowadays, so they are not worth mentioning.
