US-Bound Lexus CT 200h Ready for Market Launch

As we previously reported, the CT 200h premium compact hybrid will be on display between March 31 - April 11 at the 2010 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). Lexus also confirmed today the new CT 200h, which debuted in Geneva earlier this month, will go on sale in the US in early 2011.

As part of the marketing launch campaign in the U.S., Lexus will release an interactive short film that offers a new take on the test drive by providing the viewer a fully immersive way to experience the new Lexus CT 200h.

"The CT 200h is expected to lead the class in fuel economy and deliver low emissions, but the CT 200h isn't just about being a hybrid, it's about having fun," said Mark Templin, Lexus division group vice president and general manager. "The stylish CT 200h has an attitude and driving dynamic unlike any other Lexus hybrid. It will excite eco-conscious, young consumers and symbolize urban, luxury living."

When it will go on sale next year, the new luxury hybrid from Lexus will be equipped with a a 1.8-liter VVT-i petrol engine paired with an electric unit and offers four driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport and EV, with the last one to provide a maximum range of up to 1.2 miles (1.9 km) at speeds of up to 28 mph (45 km/h).

The car’s aerodynamics includes especially designed front and rear corners to improve the flow of air down the sides, while the sides of the cabin have been tapered and the rear edge of the roof was lowered.

The CT 200h features LED daytime running lights, a dashboard split into an upper Display Zone, with an eight-inch LCD multi-display screen, plus a lower Operation Zone, with the shift lever and other controls such as Lexus’s Remote Touch multi-function controller.
