US-Bound Ford Ka Officially Rejected

Ford won't sell the Ka minicar in the United States, in spite of reports claiming that the US-based manufacturer is looking to bring more small-displacements and fuel efficient models in the domestic market. Company CEO Alan Mulally said in a report that Ford Ka is a bit too small for the United States and Fiesta will remain the smallest vehicle for the local lineup for the time being.

"Our view is that Fiesta is about the smallest vehicle that we think will be a real success in the United States,"
Mulally told Automotive News.

Meanwhile, Ford Ka continues to post very high sales across Europe where buyers are attracted by the low ownership costs and by government incentives offered for small-displacement and fuel-efficient vehicles.

The US-bound Ford Fiesta will be introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month and the parent manufacturer claims it has already received 50,000 pre-orders thanks to the Fiesta Movement.

"This is the perfect time to show the North American Fiesta,"
said Sam De La Garza, Ford Fiesta marketing manager. "The Fiesta Movement will have wrapped up, and after hearing so much about this car leading up to the reveal, everyone will finally get to see what we are so excited about."

Ford announced in October that it reached the 500,000 unit sales mark for the Fiesta.

"Customers around the world are recognizing the new Fiesta delivers on the global Ford DNA — eye-catching design, innovation, outstanding driving dynamics and great value,"
said Jim Farley, group vice president of global marketing and Canada, Mexico and South America.
